JET JML 1014I Mini Wood Lathe
The 1014I has a 0.5 horsepower motor and is capable of six speeds varying from 500 to 4000 rpm, a cast iron bed and self ejecting tailstock. This lathe has a small footprint, but is capable of getting reasonably big jobs done. It does not have variable speed, but changing speeds with the belt is quick and easy. If variable speed is a necessity consider going for the 1014VSI which has variable speed capability.
The base, head stock and tail stock of the lathe are cast iron and well finished. One of the strongest points of this lathe is the alignment of the centers, which is very good. This results in a smooth rotation, allowing the lathe to run very quietly and with minimal amounts of vibration. The tool rest moves easily and locks in place correctly.
This lathe is perfect for small to medium sized projects like bowls or pens, and can handle 8 inch diagonals with no problem. The 1014I is getting glowing reviews on Amazon, be sure to check it out.
